Phil Anderson has hosted Blues programs on the Milwaukee radio airwaves for over 40 years. Now, he brings you Martini Blues Lounge on 1290 Martini Radio, Monday through Saturday from 7pm to Midnight. It’s 5 hours a day of pure unadulterated Blues and the only place on the radio where you will find your favorite songs by artists like BB King, Etta James, Shirley Brown, Latimore, Little Milton, Johnny Guitar Watson, Bobby Blue Bland and many more.
Phil Anderson started his radio career hosting an R&B radio show in 1971-75 at 1590 WAWA. He worked at WNOV from 1975-77 and then took a break from radio for 12 years. During that break, Phil worked at the Social Development Commission while obtaining his degree in Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Over the years he also served on the board of Milwaukee Health Services, and he worked for the Harambee Ombudsman Project, Inc. and the Milwaukee Urban League. In 1989, Phil was asked to come back to radio at 1290 and host a Saturday Blues show. “One Saturday led to another and before I knew it I was doing a Blues show full-time,” Phil says.
In his spare time Phil is a Basketball Referee. He took his skills to the professional level and refereed in the NBA from 1978-80. He is currently a member of the Midwest Minority Officials Association as well as the Eastern Wisconsin Officials Association.
Phil has won several awards over the years, including the Black Excellence Award in 2010.
